Ear lobe piercing question?

I got my ear lobe done with a 16g a little over 2 weeks ago. I'm just curious why in the last few days it sopped secreting and every time I cleaned it with a q-tip it looked fine, but all of a sudden it have crust again this morning, and is in some pain when i clean it. Im not too worried but it does strike me as odd.
